KABUL: The 2nd Afghanistan International Carpet Fair was inaugurated in Babur’s Garden of Kabul on October 26th with the participation of the high ranking officials from Government of Afghanistan, Germany, USA, Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan (EPAA), Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) and national and international businessmen from across the world.
To build on the success of the First Afghanistan International Carpet Fair held from August 26 – 28, 2007 which generatedsales and orders worth more than 4.5 million USD, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Export Promotion Agencyof Afghanistan (EPAA) in cooperation with Afghanistan Carpet Guild and Kabul Carpet Association decided to organize the 2nd Afghanistan International Carpet Fair, exclusive to Afghan Carpets, one of the indispensable treasures ofAfghanistan. The exhibition was supported by German Technical Cooperation (BMZ/GTZ), USAID/ASMED, and Standard Chartered Bank.
he fair was showcasing the best of Afghan carpets, rugs and handicrafts from more than 90 exhibitors from all over Afghanistan EPAA took 40 exporters to the fair and 6 tons of Afghan products such as Carpets, Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Dry Fruits and Nuts, Herbs and Spices, Leather Products, Marble and Semi Precious and Precious stones were exhibited. Afghan exporters were able to establish market linkages through participation in this trade fair
