Venue: Intercontinental Hotel, KabulThis conference, under the name of “Overcoming Challenges in the Private Sector,” was organized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Women Entrepreneurs’ Federation with the technical assistance of the Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan (EPAA) and financial assistance of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (GTZ).
Given the importance of the women’s involvement in economic activities in the private sector, a number of high-ranking Afghan government officials, among them H.E. Zia Masoud, the first Vice President and H.E. Mohammad Amin Farhang, Minister of Commerce and Industries, members of the Parliament, representatives of some international organizations, and around 350 Afghan women entrepreneurs had participated in this conference. H.E. Zia Masoud, addressing the participants, said, “Understanding the challenges and obstacles women entrepreneurs in the seven zones of the country have listed, thegovernment is committed to do its best to address these challenges.” He continued, “I emphasize that the related Afghan Ministries and officials follow and address these challenges more seriously.” He added, “For better economic
development in Afghanistan, all Afghan ministries and institutions require widespread reforms encompassing their structures, roles and responsibilities, and procedures and policies.”
