The President of the Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Iranian Deputy Minister of Commerce and President of the ITPO affirming the commitment of the two countries towards:
1. The Facilitation and Assistance in packaging and processing of Afghanistan’s Fresh and Dry Fruits by Iranian businesses
2. Conducting Capacity Building Seminars for EPAA staff in the near future.
3. Setting up exhibitions, educational seminars and organizing meetings between trade delegations so as to amplify the capability of Afghan Businesses and Exports.
4. Easing difficulties and restrictions affecting the movement of goods between the two countries and sharing experts in the business field to as to develop trade between the two countries
The Afghan delegation also had a chance to meet with prominent Iranian business figures and discuss the prospects for future trade between the two countries. Among the issues discussed were: the Chabahar Port, Future Economic cooperation between the two countries and procedures that will improve the current volume of trade concerning the two countries.
The MoU was signed on the 6th of August 2008 in the Iranian Capital Tehran.
